How To Clean A Crystal Wine Decanter

By Flora Vinson

One will need to get a towel or rubber mat when it comes to cleaning crystal wine decanter. He will need to place the towels or rubber mats at the bottom of the sink as it will be easier for the person to clean the item this way. The item shall be placed down on the mat or towel.

The individual should then wash the outside with warm water and with dish detergent. When it comes to those decanters with etchings or with decorative surfaces, a soft sponge should be helpful. This will reach out to the crevices well.

The same with the outside part, the person should then wash the inside with the dish detergent and warm water. It is also necessary to shake the item so that the detergent solution will swish around. Rinse the inside using clean and warm water.

It is also unavoidable that there are stains and rings remaining. To remove these, he should mix in vinegar with rock salt inside. Shake it so that the rock salt can dislodge the stubborn stain. On the other hand, the vinegar can dissolve the deposits. Allow the mixture to soak for a few hours and rinse.

If the stain is still as stubborn as ever, a mixture of baking soda, warm water, and rock salt should be used. He should then swirl the said mixture so that it swishes around. It will eventually remove the stain. Rinse.

When stains still remain after adding the baking soda to the normal cleaning solution, it might be best to make use of the solution of warm water and a drop of denture-cleaning tablet. Allow this to effervesce and stand for the whole night. Rinse the item the next day.

One will need to dry up the crystal wine decanter. To dry the inside, he can make use of a paper towel rolled around the handle of a long spoon. This makes it easier to absorb the moisture. He should leave this overnight for better drying.
